What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy, sometimes referred to as "talk therapy", is intended to help people with personal difficulties. The primary goals of psychotherapy are to decrease distress and promote mental wellbeing. These aims can be achieved in several ways but are facilitated through dialogues with trained therapists. Psychotherapy can help individuals learn more about themselves, develop problem-solving skills, and gain coping skills to better manage current and future challenges.

What can I expect from therapy with you?

Sharing intimate details of your life can understandably leave you feeling vulnerable. It is an honor and privilege for me to hear about your experiences. That is why the quality of our therapeutic relationship is so important. I provide a safe, non-judgmental, confidential, warm and empathetic space for you to discuss your current challenges. Together we will explore your problems, look at new perspectives and possible solutions. Please consider me your trusted guide. I will walk alongside you and make suggestions about where we should go next but I will always lead from behind. In other words, this is your process and you make the calls about where we go and when!

How many sessions will I need?

Everyone's circumstances are unique. Some individuals have a single challenge they are trying to navigate while others have several different things they would like to work on. Regular check-ins will help us determine where you're at in your journey and how we would like to move forward.

What are your rates?

I am currently offering both in-person and virtual sessions at the same rate of $135 plus HST. I accept credit card, and e-transfer.

Are your services covered by insurance?

Individual insurance plans vary. If you have coverage for a Psychotherapist or Psychologist, my services should be covered. After our sessions, once payment is received, a receipt will be provided which you can then use to seek reimbursement directly from your insurer.
