Frequently Asked Questions

What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy, sometimes referred to as "talk therapy", is intended to help people with personal difficulties. The primary goals of psychotherapy are to decrease distress and promote mental wellbeing. These aims can be achieved in several ways but are facilitated through dialogues with trained therapists. Psychotherapy can help individuals learn more about themselves, develop problem-solving skills, and gain coping skills to better manage current and future challenges.

What can I expect from therapy?

Therapy offers a safe, supportive space to explore your thoughts and feelings. It’s a collaborative process where you work with your therapist to identify goals and develop strategies for growth. You’ll gain self-awareness, learn practical coping skills, and navigate emotions that arise. Sessions may feel challenging at times, but they are key to understanding and changing unhelpful patterns. Therapy can help you build the skills and insights needed to create a more fulfilling life. Therapy is ultimately about growth, healing, and finding balance.

How many sessions will I need?

Everyone's circumstances are unique. Some individuals have a single challenge they are trying to navigate while others have several different things they would like to work on. Regular check-ins with your therapist will help determine where you are at in your journey and how to move forward.

What is the cost per session?

Each 50-minute session is an investment of $150-$165 depending on the clinician.

What methods of payment are accepted?

Credit card (VISA and MasterCard), and e-transfer.

Are your services covered by insurance?

Individual insurance plans vary. If you have coverage for psychotherapy, your therapy sessions should be covered. After each session, a receipt will be provided which you can use to seek reimbursement from your insurer.
